Pontoon Boats and Why I Think They Are Wonderful

If you are thinking about purchasing a boat you might want to look into pontoon boats. There are many reasons for this, and there are many pros into buying a pontoon boat compared to other types of boats. The biggest plus in my opinion is you get more square footage per dollar than any other kind of boat that is out there.

Pontoon boats are flat shaped, staying afloat by 2 long metal cylinders attached under the deck of the boat from aft to the stern. These are known as pontoons, and on a pontoon boat there can be 2 to 3 of them depending on the users preference.

A boat that has 2 pontoons on it is made for riding slow, although you can reach high speeds if you have a powerful enough motor equipped. If you have a pontoon boat that has three pontoons under the deck, you will be able to maneuver the boat more accurate, and also achieve higher speeds then if you just had two.

Pontoon boats for awhile have been known as party boats. With so much space there is no reason not to have a party out on the water. You can have room for many people, and also room for furniture and tables and many other things you would not be able to put on any other type of boat.

When it comes to customization the options are almost endless with a pontoon boat. You can have carpet, furniture, a bathroom, sun roof or bimini top, or anything else that you can think of on a pontoon boat. This is why they are rented more often in the United States than any other boat.

Another thing pontoon boats can be used for is fishing. This is a great boat to learn how to fish on, you will have plenty of room to cast the rod and reel, and because of the flat shape of the boat the rocking back and forth is restricted, making it easier to cast and reel in fish.

Pontoon boats that are made for fishing could have things like spot lights, which would be great for night fishing, trolling motors, multiple rod holders, and even built in live wells to keep your live bait good.

One bad thing about pontoon boats is that they are not designed to be taken offshore at all, meaning stay out of the ocean. There is only a foot or two of space from the water to the front of the bow, so waves can easily crash over the bow and flood the boat.
